A truly impressive chub by Griggs weighing 6lb 10oz in a bow fronted, gilt lined fully gold written case. Details in gold "Chub 6lb 10oz Caught by E A Jones at Newbury R. Kennet 8th Feb 1953". The fish looks every ounce of its weight.
A superb Griggs pike retaining all the original colours, has seen amost no light. In a bow fronted, gilt lined, cased fully gold written "PIKE 17lbs Taken by Ivor Griffiths 11th January 1953". Case size 45" by 16" by 8".

A rare case and unique set for a grayling from 1970 weighing over 3lb (see also photograph right), one of the most impressive set skin mounted grayling I have seen with fly and cast in the case.

An unusual, professionally set modern, 2008, mirror carp. 5lb 12oz with pharyngeal teeth set in the case. Carp are difficult to set well but this is an excelllent example.

A Golden Orfe in the style of Hardy. No details but a fish in a bow fronted case, fish approximately 2 to 3lb in weight.
A hybrid, taxidermist unknown in a flat fronted case. Internal label states "Abrami Buggenkaggi Hybrid-Roach and Rudd Caught in the Ouse at Roxton Bedfordshire Aug 27th 1908 by C.S.Smelt Weight 3lbs 4ozs". Case size 23" by 16" by 4 1/2". An unusual early case, scale painted and well presented.
Sanders Brown Trout in a bow front gilt lined case 23 x 13 ½ x 6. The usual reed work marks this out as a Sanders case the internal label stating “Caught at Hurstbourne by E.Phillips 19th July 1879 Weight 3lbs”.

A zander in a shallow bow fronted, gilt lined case by Albie Hall. Details on plaque to rear of the case "Zander 7lb 3oz caught by A R Hiles Claydon Lakes September 1987". Zander make impressive cases and this is no exception. Case size 30.5" by 13" by 7"
Good Homer chub are rare to find in my experience, here is a sizeable chub in a bow fronted, gilt lined case. Fully gold written "CHUB Caught by F A Mitchell Hedges at Marlow 21st Oct 1905 Weight4lb 8oz". See right for further provenance re the captor as attached to the rear of the 26" by 16.5" by 7" case.
Attached to the rear of the Homer chub shown left, details of the captor and his invovlement with the crystal skull saga from the beginning of the last century. So whether this, or the fact that it is a Thames fish that attracts, there is much to recommend this case!
Another of my favourites, a delicately scale painted roach in a bow fronted, gilt lined case. Details to the rear of the case "ROACH Caught by Mr F Templeman at Amberley January 13th 1907 Wgt 1lb 15 1/2ozs" (another very honest angler! Note, same captor as the Anstiss chub shown earlier. Case 19" by 13" by 6.5".

Homer bream in a gilt lined, gold written bow front case 25 x 14 ½ x 6. A good Homer case but with a hard Perspex bow front(but very difficult to differentiate from glass in this case) and external gold writing “Bream 3lb 6oz caught by G.F.Hilton 30th July 1939”. Very nice decorative case.

Who says you can't have a cased pike because they take up too much room................ This is a lovely little jack pike, no taxidermist details in a flat front case approximately 21 1/2" by 12" by 4" so can squeeze into the tightest spaces!

An early pike by unknown taxidermist-probably Cooper/ Sanders or similar-superb quality fish of around 17 to 20lbs or so in a bow fronted, gilt lined, case. Details provided when purchased stated "Caught by John Orlebar with livebait in the River Ouze at Pavenham October 18th 1878." No details in the case but all the case indicates that the information is accurate.
